“South Haven Pier” is based on a stunning sunset from an impromptu trip to Michigan at the end of last summer.
As the sun set, the pier looked like a dark shadow against Lake Michigan and the colorful sky. Just before the sun was about to dip below the horizon, the water reflection turned into the most captivating red hues.
I was so drawn to the colors of the water I decided to leave out the pier in the painting entirely and focus on the vivid water reflections to create this semi-abstract piece with a ton of texture!
This piece brings energy to any room— office, living room, or entryway—with its bright red tones that are impossible to miss.
