INSPIRATION
I painted this after a solo trip to Door County, WI, probably my favorite spot in the Midwest. I went with no expectations, and ended up falling in love with it.
The first night there I saw an amazing sunset. Kind of different, very yellowish. I dived into the moment and didn’t take a pic (which I regretted immediately) but my memory held it enough until I got the studio, when I painted this piece.
My time at Door County., was very special, in part because it was my first ever solo vacation. I told myself I’d come back and I did in August 2025.
During this second trip, 5 years later, I saw this postcard which instantly remind me of that sunset, that moment, that summer feeling. Finally time for myself, outside of *my* crazy world, time to just be.
The sky was glowing, the water shifting between warm and dark tones, and everything just slowed down.
A little celebration of summer at its best, and a perfect gift for anyone who loves those golden evenings.
Original painting sold in 2021 in the US.
