Sunset in the Fields

I drive daily between Champaign and Danville. During the Winter months, usually I return back to town at sunset time, so I have the pleasure to experience sunset in its plenitude by flat the corn fields.

It happened more than once that I had to take an exit earlier to park the car and take some shoots at the amazing spectacle. One February sunset left an enduring impression in me, so as soon as I arrived to the studio, I had to paint it.

The sky was covered with vivid hues of orange, pink, and purple. With the use of glossy pigments and fluorescent highlights, I wanted to capture the sunset's brilliance, evoking a deep connection to nature throughout the process. The resulting painting serves as a timeless tribute to that unforgettable moment, preserving its essence for eternity.
